Social Media Fact vs Myth for Christians

In this blog post, we are going to shed some light on perhaps one of the most commonly supported myths regarding Christians using social media. Read along as we compare and contrast a few thoughts on the matter.

Myth: Social Media Wastes Your Time.

While this is certainly true for many people, it doesn’t have to be… ESPECIALLY FOR CHRISTIANS. In fact, we believe if anyone has the opportunity for social media NOT to be a waste of time, It’s Christians!

Here’s why…

Christians have the most important message in the world to share. We believe that. But not only that. We believe Christians have the most powerful message to share as well. A message that can take a person from heading down a road of death and destruction, to turning and heading down the road to eternal life. True purpose and fulfillment in life is found only in surrendering ones life to Christ. But how will they know if no one tells them this fundamental Truth?

How can people have faith in the Lord and ask him to save them, if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear, unless someone tells them? – Romans 10:14 CEV in The Holy Bible

THE OPPORTUNITY IS HUGE!!! AND THE OPPORTUNITY IS THE MISSION FIELD OF SOCIAL MEDIA

So what’s the problem?

The problem is… the way in which social media is being used by Christians, or anyone for that matter. Think about this question… If you’re a Christian, do you consider going to church a waste of your time? Most true Christians would say, absolutely not. But what if you went to church, didn’t pay attention to anything that was preached, didn’t pray, didn’t talk to anyone, and then left? If you did that, one could make a strong argument that your time spent at church was a waste of time. Soooo, the point is – it’s what you do at church that makes the difference between whether or not it was a waste of your time. THE SAME CAN BE SAID OF SOCIAL MEDIA. It’s HOW you spend your time on social media that makes the difference between whether or not it’s a waste of your time as a Christian.
