What is the trap?
Ok, so you have probably been caught by this trap a time or two. What is it? The trap of wasting countless hours of your life on social media with little or nothing to show for it.

If you didn’t know this… BY DESIGN, the social media platforms have been designed and engineered to purposely keep you engaged. What does that mean? It means that when you go on social media, they want to keep you on the social media platform as long as they can. Why? Because the longer you scroll through content, the more advertising they are able to show you. This means more revenue for them from advertisers ready and willing to pay. Their goal is to keep you looking. If you’re not careful, before long you could find yourself spending 10 times the amount of time you were intending to, looking through social media.
Is that bad?
Yes and No.
Yes, it’s bad if you end up losing valuable minutes, hours, months, years of your life with nothing to show for it. Remember, all the time you spend on social media really does add up. Every single person on earth has a finite (not unlimited) amount of time to their life. As a Christian, you want to make sure you are not simply wasting your life away. Rather, make the most of your time by purposely using it for the Kingdom of God!

SOLUTION!
Approach using social media as a Christian with specific intent and purpose in mind. Purpose in your heart that you want to spend your time on social media being a shining light for God. Whether through your posts, content you share, comments you leave, etc… take actions on social media that have the potential to reach someone for Jesus. Think about it, being engaged in The Mission God has given every single follower of Jesus Christ to share The Good News of the Gospel with everyone is a great way to spend your time. So if your spending tons of time on social media, just make sure you aren’t falling into the trap that most non-Christians fall into. Don’t let the social media platforms steal your valuable time. Instead, turn the time you spend on social media into valuable time spent doing the work of God!
