Are you think about taking a break from Social Media?
Maybe you’re tired of too much negativity. Maybe you find yourself wasting too much of your time. Maybe you’re fed up with all the fake news. Maybe you’re just burnt out on seeing other people’s opinions that are opposite of yours. And let’s face it, there is a lot of that.
Whatever the reason is, don’t take a break from social media until you read this blog post first!
From time-to-time we run across someone who has become so frustrated about what social media has become in their life, they make a post saying something to this effect, “I can’t take it anymore. I am taking a break form social media. I am tired of all the negativity so you won’t see me on social media for the next two weeks…” Maybe you have seen these posts too OR Maybe you have made one of these posts yourself OR Maybe you’re thinking about taking a break from social media right now.
We are not saying taking a break is necessarily bad, BUT…
We ARE saying maybe there is a BETTER ACTION you can take other than just calling it quits!
TURN THE LIGHT ON!
Consider this… as a Christian, choose to approach social media with a new purpose. Often times, people approach social media with the intent of consuming whatever is fed to them when they log on and scroll. This can often lead to frustration and burn-out due to being hit left and right with people’s opinions and negative content. However, as a Christian you are called to be a light shining in this dark world.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. – Matthew 5:16 ESV
Before you take a break from social media, ask yourself… “have I been a light shining in this world using social media, or have I just allowed myself to be bombarded by other people’s lies, negativity, opinions, and junk?”
Here is our challenge to you…
From this point forward, purpose your usage of social media to be a light shining in the darkness, reaching other people for the Kingdom of God. We think you will find this makes all the difference in the world. Think about it, the Christian content YOU contribute to social media is far more important and valuable than all the garbage you are attempting to take a break from. People need to see your light shining with truth and righteousness that comes from God. So, instead of letting the garbage content on social media to push you off it, decide that you’re going to be the one who brings truth and life to people on social media. You’re going to be the one who pushes darkness out. Remember, darkness does not overcome the light, but light overcomes the darkness. Go turn the light on now!
